  1. Welcome to TOP, the premier DOS command enhancement
  2.  utility! Some things new users may want to try are
  3.  listed below. To scroll this window, either press
  4.  the left mouse button on the scroll bars to the
  5.  right, or press <Ctrl-Page Up> or <Ctrl-Page Down>
  6.  
  7. This window is called the VIEW window. It can be used
  8.  to display any file in ascii text or hex mode. Right
  9.  now you are VIEWing a file called WELCOME.TXT. To
  10.  VIEW another file, type 'VIEW filename' at the com-
  11.  mand line.

  13. Pressing <F1> starts HELP. To go to a particular
  14.  topic, type a few letters of the topic on the com-
  15.  mand line and press <F1>, or just click the left
  16.  mouse button on the topic. HELP can be started at
  17.  any time, and does not prevent continued typing at
  18.  the command line. HELP is both context and DOS
  19.  version sensitive.

  21. Almost every feature TOP has is controlled by mod-
  22.  ifying its initialization file called TOP.INI. See
  23.  HELP for !SETUP for more details and answers to
  24.  common questions about TOP.INI.

  37. Mouse users: Press and hold the left and right button
  38.  to get the window control popup menu. Also see HELP
  39.  for wPOPUP. All TOP window HELP topics start with a
  40.  small w, and mouse users are encouraged to read all
  41.  these topics.

  43. The mouse can be used to cut and paste text from any-
  44.  where on the screen to the command line or into, be-
  45.  tween, or from any TOP windows. For example, a file-
  46.  name can be selected and dragged into this window,
  47.  causing the file's contents to be displayed. See
  48.  HELP for wMOUSE and related topics.

  50. This VIEW window is specified to come up every time
  51.  TOP starts by having the command 'VIEW WELCOME.TXT'
  52.  in the [InitialCommands] section of TOP.INI. To keep
  53.  this window from coming up every time you start TOP,
  54.  you can remove or comment out that command by edit-
  55.  ing the TOP.INI file.
